It’s a thorny issue indeed. While I understand the training African actors receive on the British stage may seem more professional and working with them may be less problematic, I hate seeing so many important roles of our struggle go to an actor who may not really get it. I’m happy to see Black people working, but this issue feels like a deliberate wedge being driven between American Black actors and Black actors from other countries. I don’t have an answer. But I hope the resentment doesn’t fester and grow.
